LM 419 - Techniques - Torn Papers

This month at Lasting Memories, our theme is Techniques.  This week, our challenge is to use torn paper on your layout.

I love this technique.  It's easy and adds a bit of texture to your layout.  I decided to scrap this photo from our trip to the Bahamas in May.  We stayed at Atlantis, and this is the big chair in the lobby by the casino.  I am wearing a dress with peacock feathers all over it (I absolutely LOVE peacocks) so I knew I had to use the Crate Paper Flourish collection.  It's my absolute favorite collection EVER!

LM 418 - October Events - Halloween

This month at Lasting Memories, our theme is October Events.  This week, our challenge is to create a Halloween layout.

I love Halloween.  It's 3 days after my birthday, so I often combine my birthday party with a Halloween party.

I love anything vintage.  Last year, I decided to dress up as Vintage Barbie.  I had a dusty rose dress that was my Grandmother's from the 50's.  I had these awesome black & white shoes, a black belt and I have TONS of vintage jewelry.  I went to my local vintage store and found the fur wrap, lace gloves and black purse.  I printed out the Barbie logo, laminated it and placed it on the purse.  I did my hair and makeup in 50's styles too.

When I was getting ready to create this layout, the colors in the photos really didn't go with traditional Orange/Black Halloween colors.  I started digging through my stash and found the Carta Bella Metropolitan Girl Collection and it was PERFECT!

October Stick it Down

Here's this month's double page sketch at Stick it Down

This month, Stick it Down is teaming up with White..with 1.  Their challenge is to use white with gray this month.  I rarely use white for my background color, and I don't particularly like gray for a scrapbook color, so this was WAY outside my comfort zone.

I really struggled with figuring out which pictures to use for this.  While I was searching for gray papers (I don't have many!) my dolphin pictures popped into my head.  My husband and I swam with dolphins when we went to the Bahamas in May.  These are general photos of the dolphins.  I will need to scrap the photos of my husband and I soon.

I am not thrilled with how this page turned out.  It didn't photograph well, as the grays aren't quite so monochromatic in person.  I tend to make colorful layouts, so I am debating adding some more color to this layout.

LM 416 - October Events - Thanksgiving

This month at Lasting Memories, our theme is October Events.  This week, our challenge is to create a Thanksgiving layout.

If you're in the USA like me, you may be wondering why Thanksgiving is one of our "October Events."  In Canada, they celebrate Thanksgiving on the 2nd Monday of October.  I never knew that!

These photos are from Thanksgiving 2016.  My husband and I always host thanksgiving.  I didn't take many photos that year, so all 3 fit on this layout.

Supplies:
Carta Bella Fall Blessings Collection
Sharpie Fine Point Marker
Creative Memories Circle Cutter
Thickers Burlap Letters

I am entering this layout into the challenge at CSI: Color Stories Inspiration this month. I used textured paper, leaves, branches, acorns, fall themed elements, pumpkins, bird (owl)
