LM 423 - Techniques - Mixed Media

This month at Lasting Memories, our theme is "techniques."  This week, our challenge is to use mixed media on your layout.

I have had this pineapple stencil for a while and it was just BEGGING for some modeling paste.  My husband and I went to the Bahamas in May and I wore a shirt with pineapples all over it, so it fit perfectly with the stencil.  I am thrilled with how this layout turned out.

I used some of my scraps from the Oasis collection, plus some paper and embellishments from the Wild Heart collection.

Supplies:
Crate Paper Wild Heart Collection (background paper, ephemera)
Crate Paper Oasis (paper scraps, stickers, ephemera)
Striped Letters by Amy Tangerine
Small blue letters by Pinkfresh
Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Black
TCW Pineapple Stencil
Heidi Swapp Texture Paste in Gold and White (with green ink added)

LM 421 - Techniques - Watercolors

This month at Lasting Memories, our theme is Techniques.  This week, our challenge is to use watercolors, paint and/or misting on your layouts.

When I heard this challenge, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.  I bought the Live Beautifully paper pack from Close to My Heart a couple years ago specifically because I wanted to watercolor this paper.  It is white with gold foil flowers.

I pulled out my CTMH watercolors and colored all of the flowers and leaves.  I didn't even have a photo in mind, LOL.
While I colored in all of the flowers, I happened to think of the quote "If friends were flowers, I'd pick you."  I remembered that I had a photo of my two BFFs and I from September.  I don't see my BFFs as often as I'd like.  We grew up in Philly and I still live their.  One of my BFFs lives in California and the other lives in New Jersey.

I decided to print the photo in black and white so that it would stand out against the background.  I only used black, white and gold elements on the page.

CTMH  Live Beautifully Floral Paper
CTMH Cardstock (Black and White)
Pink Paislee Auburn Lane (Houndstooth Paper and flower embellishments)

LM 420 - Techniques - Stitching

This month at Lasting Memories, our theme is techniques.  This week, our challenge is to use stitching on your layouts.

I decided to scrap photos from swimming with the dolphins in the Bahamas.  I pulled out an old Cosmo Cricket collection, and it was perfect for this.  I love the whale tails, wave and bubble paper.

I tried using my sewing machine, but it wasn't cooperating for me.  So instead, I faux stitched on this layout.

Patterned Paper and stickers by Cosmo Cricket Sea Air
Dolphin Stickers by Carta Bella
Black Fine Sharpie
Letter Chipboard by Pebbles

November Stick it Down

Here's this month's sketch from Stick it Down.  Guess what?!?  It was designed by ME!

I wanted to use LOTS of leaves on this layout, so I chose photos from last Thanksgiving.  I was able to try out my new Stampin' Up leaf stamps and die cuts.  I was also able to use up some leaves from my stash.  I love fall, so I have tons of rhinestones, buttons, sequins etc. in leaf shapes.

My husband and I host Thanksgiving each year.  We invite both sets of our parents, as well as our brothers and my nephew.  I am so thankful that we are able to see so much of our family each year.
